Manchester City Confirms Rodri’s Knee Ligament Injury Following Arsenal Draw
Manchester City have confirmed that midfielder Rodri has suffered ligament damage to his right knee, raising concerns that the 28-year-old could miss the remainder of the season.
Although no official timeline has been provided, reports suggest that the injury might sideline Rodri for the rest of the campaign. The Spaniard was forced off after just 21 minutes during City’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Arsenal, following a challenge involving defender Thomas Partey.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee. The injury was sustained during the first half of this weekend’s Premier League match against Arsenal.”
The statement continued: “The midfielder travelled to Spain this week to seek specialist consultation after undergoing initial tests in Manchester. Assessment remains ongoing to determine the full extent of the injury and the expected prognosis.”
Rodri, who was among the leading contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or, was making only his second start of the season after previously dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during Spain’s EURO 2024 final victory over England.
