Partizan Fans Vandalize Dressing Room After 4-0 Defeat to Crvena Zvezda
Partizan Belgrade fans reacted violently following their team’s crushing 4-0 defeat to arch-rivals Crvena Zvezda on Monday, vandalizing the team’s dressing room and leaving head coach Aleksandar Stanojevic with a head injury.
The match, part of the fierce Belgrade derby, saw Crvena Zvezda dominate, extending their winning streak in the derby to four consecutive matches. The 4-0 scoreline was the heaviest margin in the fixture since 1998, when Zvezda won by the same score.
After the match, Stanojevic, 50, addressed the media with visible injuries, including band-aids on his head, following the post-match unrest caused by enraged Partizan supporters.
“Disgruntled fans broke the glass, it’s unpleasant. I came with band-aids to the press conference, but there’s no reason to make a theatre of it,” the coach explained, trying to downplay the situation.
He also clarified that despite the vandalism, no physical altercations or further violence took place.
“There was nothing more, no fight, no physical conflict. It’s no drama,” he added.
Despite trying to keep a calm tone, Stanojevic was candid in his assessment of the loss, calling it the most devastating defeat of his career.
“I apologize to every Partizan fan. I apologize for the way we lost the game,” he said, accepting full responsibility for the team’s dismal performance. “I take responsibility and this is mine—the worst defeat in my career. It’s my fault how we lost the game… it’s a shame for all of us. And for me, the biggest.”
The defeat adds more pressure to Stanojevic, whose team is struggling in both domestic and European competitions. The heated Belgrade derby is always an intense affair, but the one-sided nature of Monday’s encounter has left the Partizan fanbase particularly outraged, heightening tensions within the club and casting a shadow over the remainder of the season.
